Russia described this Thursday as illegal, anti-Russian and disconcerting the Czech Republic’s decision to freeze the assets of a company that manages Russian state properties.

Such a deeply anti-Russian stance on the part of the Czech authorities naturally causes absolute perplexity,” reacted Kremlin spokesman (presidency), Dmitri Peskov.

The Government of the Czech Republic has included a company that manages Russian state assets on Czech soil on the sanctions list, considering that Moscow’s commercial activity finances “the murder of Ukrainians.”

This is the Federal State Unitary Enterprise Roszagranproperty, which manages Russian real estate assets abroad.

Most assets are located in Prague or the spa city of Karlovy Vary, which traditionally has a large business community and Russian citizens. The sanction excludes diplomatic mission buildings.

We categorically reject this position and do not accept it. Now we are analyzing the situation,” said Peskov, quoted by the Spanish agency EFE.

Peskov said Moscow considers Prague’s decisions illegal from the point of view of international law.

“Judging by these decisions, … all objects that may be our property, with the exception of those that have diplomatic status, are, of course, now threatened,” he said, adding that Russia will respond to any “measures hostile”. “

The Czech Republic said it will try to convince other European Union (EU) countries to sanction the Russian company.

Russia has been subject to international sanctions, including from the European Union, since it invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022.

The sanctions aim to diminish Moscow’s ability to finance the war effort in Ukraine.

kyiv’s Western allies have also been supplying the Ukrainian army with weapons to fight the Russian invaders.

The number of civilian and military casualties from the war is unknown, but several sources, including the UN, have predicted it will be very high.

Russia’s war against neighboring Ukraine is considered the biggest security crisis in Europe since World War II (1939-1945).
