Kremlin says Zelensky should reflect on Putin’s peace proposal

The Kremlin considered that Ukraine should reflect on President Vladimir Putin’s recent peace proposal, as the situation on the front is worsening for Ukrainian forces.

The Kremlin considered this Sunday that Ukraine should reflect on President Vladimir Putin’s recent peace proposal, while the situation on the battle front worsens for Ukrainian forces.

“The current dynamics of the situation on the front [de batalha] clearly shows us that the situation will continue to get worse for Ukrainians. A man who puts the interests of his country before his own and those of his ‘boss’ would probably consider such a proposal,” said Kremlin spokesman Dmitri Peskov, referring to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

On Friday, Russian President Vladimir Putin promised to immediately order a ceasefire in Ukraine and begin negotiations if kyiv began withdrawing troops from the four regions annexed by Moscow in 2022 and gave up its plans to join NATO.

These demands constitute a de facto demand for the surrender of Ukraine, whose objective is to maintain its territorial integrity and sovereignty, through the departure of all Russian troops from its territory, in addition to kyiv intending to join the military alliance.

The conditions imposed by Moscow were immediately rejected by Ukraine, the United States and NATO.

Peskov also stated that this is not an ultimatum, but rather “a peace initiative that takes into account the realities on the ground.”

These statements by the Kremlin spokesman come after Zelensky promised to present peace proposals to Russia as soon as they were validated by the international community, within the framework of the Peace Summit in Ukraine, which is being held in Switzerland without the participation of Russia.
