Max Verstappen penalized with 10 places in the F1 Belgian GP

Red Bull was forced to install a fifth engine in the driver’s car, which meant dropping 10 places on the grid for Sunday’s race. The best position you can hope for is 11th.

Dutch driver Max Verstappen (Red Bull) was penalised 10 places on the grid for the 14th round of the Formula 1 Belgian Grand Prix this Friday for having changed the engine of his car.

Red Bull was forced to install a fifth combustion engine in the Dutch driver’s car, which means he drops 10 positions on the starting grid for Sunday’s race.

In other words, the best position Verstappen can aim for is 11th place, if he can be fastest in qualifying on Saturday.

Japanese Yuki Tsunoda (RB) will leave last place, after the team has assembled a fifth power unit, electric motors, as well as a third battery and a third electronic set.

In free practice on Friday, Max Verstappen was the fastest, with a time of 1.43.372 minutes, with Australian Oscar Piastri (McLaren), winner of the previous test in Hungary, in second place, 0.531 seconds behind, and Thai Alexander Albon (Williams) in third place, with 0.727.
