The Tunisian president announced early Thursday that he had fired the prime minister, without giving any official explanation, after having replaced Ahmed Hachani with the newly appointed Minister of Social Affairs, Kamel Madouri.
Hachani had replaced Najla Bouden on August 1 last year, who was also dismissed without official explanation by President Kais Saied, who has monopolized all power in Tunisia since his coup d’état on July 25, 2021.
Democratically elected in October 2019, Kais Saied was granted full powers three years agodismissing his then prime minister and suspending parliament, which was later dissolved.
After having revised the Constitution in 2022 to introduce a hyper-presidential regime and elect a new parliament with very limited powers, recently announced that he would run for a second term in the presidential elections to be held in Tunisia on October 6.
Earlier, Hachani issued a statement on the meetings held at the government headquarters, in particular on the difficult situation of public transport.
Madouri, a former head of the National Health Insurance Fund, took office in May, replacing Malek Zahi, who was dismissed at the same time as Interior Minister Kamel Feki, who was succeeded by Khaled Nouri.
