Travelling through six Asian countries for eight months with two children aged two and five may seem to many to be a logistical and emotional adventure. Sofia Mesquita and Mário Ribeiro did it with just two backpacks and a one-way trip to Thailand: these are sufficient reasons for the name Uncomplicated.
This is the name of the Instagram page and podcast where they share their family travel stories, give advice and show that a meaningful trip goes beyond taking photos of famous monuments and paradisiacal beaches. “We like to explore without planning, to let it happen. Arriving somewhere and trying to fit into the local culture is usually what makes us happiest,” says Sofia.
The four adventurers’ journey through Asia began in November 2023, ended in July, and is proof that a story like this doesn’t have to be a long-term project. For Sofia and Mario, it began just a few years earlier.
