Keir Starmer’s wife failed to declare hundreds of pounds worth of tickets to Taylor Swift’s London concerts

Victoria Starmer received tickets for the Eras Tour that were not included in the declaration of her husband, who was under investigation for failing to record donations. And ministers are reported to have accepted 10,000 euros in concerts.

After the clothes, it’s the concert. The wife of the UK’s prime minister and leader of the Labour Party accepted two free tickets to Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour, which passed through Wembley Stadium this summer, and did not declare it in her husband’s register of interests. Although Keir Starmer insisted that the second fine was registered, there is still no data, according to The Telegraph.

The case comes after the Sunday Times reported on Sunday that the British prime minister is under investigation for failing to declare £5,000 (about €5,036) in donations made to a woman by a party donor on time. Now, attention remains focused on Victoria Starmer for accepting two tickets worth hundreds of pounds, to Taylor Swift’s concerts on June 21 and August 15 in London, and failing to register. In the UK, rules dictate that MPs are required to register gifts and donations within 28 days.

Along with Starmer, other Labour figures were also present at Swift’s concerts, including Health Secretary Wes Streeting, Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson, Treasury Secretary Darren Jones and Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy. The first three declared the bills.

Lisa Nandy’s statement is also not on the register, and her spokesperson justifies it by stating that it is on the separate register of ministerial interests, which is only updated every three months.

As for Streeting, Phillipson and Jones, they attended the show as MPs and not as members of the government, so they declared entries in the MPs’ register of interests.

Although the value of the tickets of the British Prime Minister’s wife is not known for certain, The Telegraph reports that Streeting received four tickets worth £1,160 (€1,377), Phillipson received two worth £522.54 (€620.51) and Jones received four tickets worth £3,400 (€4,037). All of the tickets were paid for by the Football Association. This means that British government ministers have agreed to a total of more than 9,000 pounds (10,686 euros) in tickets for Taylor Swift during the summer.
