Iran blames Hezbollah for attack on Netanyahu’s home. Israel does not believe and blames Tehran

Israel initially blamed the “pro-Iran group” Hezbollah for the attack on the prime minister’s vacation home. Iran has ruled out responsibility, but Tel Aviv does not believe it: “You are responsible.”

The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accused the Shiite “pro-Iran group” Hezbollah of the drone attack this Saturday on his private vacation residence in the area of Casareia, a city on the Mediterranean coast. The executive accused the Islamic organization of trying to “murder” him and his wife, Sarah Netanyahu, but the couple was, at the time, in another house.

“They made a serious mistake,” Benjamin Netanyahu stated as a threat on his personal account X (formerly Twitter), promising that this attack “will not prevent” the State of Israel from “continuing its war against its enemies.” The prime minister also sent a message to Iran and “its partners in the axis of evil”: “Anyone who harms the citizens of the State of Israel will pay a high price for it.”

Hours later, Iran’s mission to the United Nations (UN) disassociated itself from the attack. Iranian diplomacy blamed Hezbollah alone.

When asked about Benjamin Netanyahu’s accusations of Iranian responsibility for the attack, the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman said they were “lies.” “The spread of lies is the current and permanent practice of this regime [Israel] and their criminal leaders,” said Esmaeil Baghaei.

However, Israel did not believe this Iranian version. In X, Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz recalled that Hezbollah, which Tehran claims was behind the attack, has always been a militia controlled by Iran.

“Hezbollah is a tentacle that Iran created, founded, armed and trained. Now it is suddenly described as an independent entity,” joked Israel Katz, who fired on the Iranian authorities: “Your lies won’t help you.” For the head of diplomacy there is no doubt: Iran is “responsible” for the attack.

This Saturday, in a statement, the Israeli army indicated that “three unmanned aerial vehicles were detected crossing Lebanon towards Israeli territory. Two of them were intercepted and a third arrived in the Casareia area”, more specifically at the house of the Israeli prime minister.
