Arizona Attorney General, Democrat Kristin Mayes, announced this Friday the opening of an investigation into a possible “death threat” to former conservative congresswoman Liz Cheney made by Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.
“I’ve already asked the head of my criminal division to start investigating that statement and see if it qualifies as a death threat under Arizona law,” Mayes said in an interview with KPNC, the local NBC News affiliate in Phoenix.

During an event Thursday night in Arizona with conservative host Tucker Carlson, Trump suggested Cheney should face a firing squad for her foreign policy stances.
“She is a radical war hawk. Let’s put her there with a nine-barreled shotgun pointed at her, okay? Let’s see how he feels about it, you know, when they point guns in his face,” the Republican presidential candidate said.
Cheney became number three among Republicans in the House of Representatives and was one of the few who dared to confront Trump during his term, something that cost her her seat in Congress and ostracism within the party.

The former congresswoman and her father, former Republican Vice President Dick Cheney (2001-2009), announced their vote for the Democratic candidate, the current Vice President, Kamala Harris.
The Democratic candidate reacted by stating that Trump’s verbal violence should “be reason enough to disqualify him” from the race for the White House.
“Anyone who wants to be president of the United States and uses this type of violent language is not qualified to hold that office,” he added.
