“If war or crisis comes”: is the name of a Swedish pamphlet from World War II, which began to be distributed this Monday in 5.2 million homes, adapted to the reality of the 21st century. In neighboring Norway, 2.2 million printed copies of a guide, which is also available online, on “emergency preparedness tips” have already been sent. In Finland, the government decided not to print the leaflets because “it would cost millions [de euros]” and only made an online format available, as it can also be updated more easily.
The content of the three documents does not differ much: seek to prepare the population for a crisis scenarioin this case, war caused by Russian attacks. Preparation increases with the arrival of winter, which in northern Europe means negative temperatures and snow.
The main recommendation is Store enough food and bottled water for 72 hours. Civil Protection of the three countries also recommends foods such as preserves, potatoes, pasta and energy bars – in addition to animal food, for those who have them -, medicines such as iodine pills – in the event of a possible nuclear attack – and alternative sources of energy.
The brochures also include a section dedicated specifically to military attacks, which ensure that countries have the infrastructure to defend themselves, describes the BBC.
Nu börjar den nya broschyren “Om krisen eller kriget kommer” das ut to Sveriges samtliga cirka 5.2 milljoner hushåll.
