The Government of the Azores will contribute 100% to the acquisition of photovoltaic solar systems, using funds from the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), in a total of 19 million euros, it was published this Thursday in the Official Gazette.
“The incentive for the acquisition of photovoltaic solar installations is specified in the attribution of incentive units, in the form of a non-refundable subsidy, corresponding to 100% of eligible expenses, up to a maximum of 1,500 euros per kilowatt (kW) installed” , it reads on the diploma.
In April, the Parliament of the Azores approved the autonomous legislative decree that “establishes the system of economic incentives for the acquisition of photovoltaic solar systems, to be installed in the Autonomous Community of the Azores, within the scope of the Recovery and Resilience Plan”, called by Solenerge, was published this Thursday in the Official Gazette.
The incentive system has a budget of 19 million euros, distributed between 2022 and 2025.
In the first three years, 30% of the funds go to home users, releasing the uncommitted amount in October of each year, considering the volume of applications submitted.
Solenerge is intended for to share the costs of “acquisition and installation of new photovoltaic solar systems” and the “eligible investment value will take into account the individual consumption of each delivery point code”, by individuals or legal entities.
The beneficiaries undertake to license the photovoltaic solar systems, prior to submitting the application, and to “use all the energy produced by the equipment that is the object of the incentive granted for self-consumption purposes.”
They are also required to “keep in perfect working order the equipment shared by a minimum period of six years“.
The incentives granted under Solenerge “cannot be combined with any other support of the same nature, regardless of the public body that grants it.”
According to the regional legislative decree, this incentive system aims to “reduce energy dependence” of the Azores“with respect to the consumption of fossil fuels from abroad”, “contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions” and “invest significantly in the production of electricity from renewable and endogenous sources”.
It also aims to “sensitize civil society about the advantages of energy efficiency and the importance of fighting climate change” and “reduce the energy bill of families and organizations that are committed to this alternative.”
The proposal for a regional legislative decree, presented by the executive of the Azores, was approved in the April plenary session of the Legislative Assembly of the Azores, with votes in favor of PSD, CDS-PP, PPM, BE, CH, IL, PAN and the independent and with the abstention of the PS.
