European stocks rise in early trading after the release of economic data

European stocks opened trading higher, which is hampered by concerns about accelerating inflation in the eurozone, as well as calls from members of the European Central to raise interest rates at upcoming meetings. The Stoxx Europe 600 rose 0.22% to 444 at 1012 Beirut time, while the UK FTSE rose 0.19% to 7623.

The German DAX index also rose 0.57% to 14,470 points, while the French CAC index rose 0.44% to 6497 points. Today, investors are looking forward to the release of final manufacturing PMI data for both the Eurozone and the UK.

The data showed German retail sales fell more-than-expected in April, with food prices rising sharply and sales falling 5.4%. ECB President Christine Lagarde will take part in discussions on central banks and the green transition at the conference tonight.
