“Banks are not your friends.” Alex Mashinsky, co-founder of cryptocurrency transfer and credit platform Celsius, appeared on the main stage of Web Summit 2021 in Lisbon, wearing a t-shirt that said just that: “banks are not your friends”. Mashinsky, born in Ukraine and raised in Israel, is now a US citizen. His website describes his path: “Born under communism, raised under socialism, currently prospering under capitalism. He is a noted entrepreneur and has founded several companies in recent years, including Celsius Network, GroundLink, Transit Wireless, Elematics, and Arbinet.”
It is Celsius that is putting this businessman in the eye of the hurricane, and they are already threatening him with lawsuits.
