IRS Jovem reaches 37,558 taxpayers and gives an average benefit of 380 euros

More than 37,500 taxpayers accessed the IRS Jovem this year, covering 506 million euros of income from work, an average of 380 euros in benefits for each young person covered, the Ministry of Finance announced this Friday.

With the completion of the IRS campaign on the income obtained in 2021, it turns out that 37,558 young people benefit from the IRS Jovem, in a total amount of income from work covered by 506 million euros, ”announces, in a statement, the office led by Minister Fernando Medina. .

According to the ministry, “this means that, on average, each of these young people has a monthly income of 960 euros and a tax benefit of 380 euros per year when joining the IRS Jovem”.

The tax expense associated with the IRS Jovem of the IRS 2021 campaign, whose declaratory delivery phase ended on June 30, is around 15 million euros, adds the office.

This was the second year of IRS Juvenile applicationa measure “that aims to promote the qualification of young people and support their integration into adulthood and the labor market after completing their studies,” underlines the same source.

In the first year of application of the measure, 1,020 young people benefited, and the “significant increase” in the number of beneficiaries now registered is justified by the “implementation of an alert system, by the Tax and Customs Authority (TA) , at the time of presentation of the declaration for the diffusion and incentive of the regime”, says the Ministry of Finance.

The Young IRS guarantees, in 2021, an exemption from the IRS of up to 30% of the dependent work income obtained by young people between 18 and 26 years old after completing a cycle of studies at level 4 of the Qualifications Framework (secondary education obtained through dual certificate courses or secondary education aimed at continuing higher education studies plus a professional internship – minimum of six months).

The General State Budgets for 2022 (OE2022) extended the IRS Jovem from three to five years, also covering self-employed workers and young people with a doctorate up to 30 years of age.
