What sows wars between CAP and Ministry?

“It is better to ask why during the election campaign the PAC itself advised voters not to vote for the Socialist Party.” It was with these words, pronounced this Wednesday at Morgado da Torre, in Portimão, that the Minister of Agriculture, Maria do Céu Antunes, gave the necessary pull to break a rope that was already at the limit. The response from the Confederação dos Agricultores de Portugal (CAP) was immediate. In a statement, CAP described the statements of Maria do Céu Antunes as “political bullying” and asked for explanations. The rope broke and CAP admits to getting out. If it happens, it will be far from unheard of.

“When you start a demonstration, it is because all other forms of dialogue have been exhausted. It’s the end of the line. We hope we don’t have to get to that point, but if things change, there will be no other solution. We will try to prevent that from happening”, Luís Mira, general secretary of the Confederation, tells the Observer.
