The consumption of fuels derived from petroleum increased in June by 82.48 kilotons (kton) year-on-year, which represents an increase of 31.1%, according to data from the Energy Services Regulatory Authority (ERSE), released this Tuesday.
According to the Bulletin of the Fuel and LPG Market, “consumption (of oil-derived fuels) in June 2022 was 31.1% higher (+82.48 kton) to the same period of 2021″.

Compared to the same period in 2019, before the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, consumption in June this year was lower, with a decrease in LPG and jet (-4.4% in both), and diesel (-3.4%) and only one increase in the case of gasoline (+2.7%).
Compared to May, world consumption of oil-derived fuels fell by 65.35 kton, which represents a descent of 9.2%.
The decrease in the consumption of fuels derived from oil, in June, occurred in the diesel (-14.9%), a Gasoline (-6.1%) and no LPG (-5.6%).
Only the consumption of aircraft fuel (jet fuel) increased 6.5%compared to the previous month.
As for the average retail prices of diesel and gasoline, in June there were increases of 7.4% and 8.5%, respectively, compared to the previous month, up to 2,034 and 2,169 euros per liter, respectively .
In case of diesel and gasolineBraga, Castelo Branco and Santarém recorded the lowest prices in mainland Portugal, while Beja, Bragança and Lisbon presented the highest prices.
As to LPG bottle (butane and propane), Braga, Vila Real, Viana do Castelo and Viseu have the lowest costs in mainland Portugal, while Setúbal, Évora and Leiria have the highest prices.
