Goldwein said, “It’s kind of a catch-22 with everything. We can send everyone another check to cover their inflationary costs, but that actually makes inflation worse. What we need to do now is to bring inflation under control. One of the easiest ways to do this is to ask people to start paying off debts they already have, to start making the principal payments they have agreed upon. And meanwhile, while not everyone with student debt is wealthy, a disproportionate amount of student debt is held by advanced and relatively well-off people and they can afford it, more than average Americans are seeing the cost of their gasoline. and the clothes are growing.”
