Biden, Macron, Scholz and Starmer want a “just and lasting peace” in Ukraine

In a joint statement, the leaders of the United States, France, Germany and the United Kingdom pledged to continue supporting Ukraine “to ensure a just and lasting peace based on international law.”

American President Joe Biden and French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said this Friday that they were determined to support Ukraine in the war against Russia, to achieve a “just and lasting peace.”

In a joint statement issued after a meeting in Berlin, the leaders of the United States, France, Germany and the United Kingdom committed to “continue to support Ukraine in its efforts to ensure a a just and lasting peace, based on international law, even in the Charter of the United Nations, as well as respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity.”

The declaration of intentions in favor of Ukraine and against its Russian aggressor was made public at the end of a meeting in the German capital, held on the occasion of a lightning visit by the American head of state, Joe Biden.
