Speaking to Fox News on Wednesday, Brian Brenberg, vice president and associate professor of business at King’s College, said the United States is “on the verge of a deeper recession.”
We have about six million job seekers and a million vacancies, the math doesn’t work. What’s the problem?
Two open positions for almost every job seeker. Fortunately there are open positions, no questions asked. But now the problem is that businesses are so frustrated that they can’t find workers. Too many workers still sit on the sidelines today. If you look at the labor force participation numbers, it’s lower today than it was before the pandemic. […] That means we’re almost three million jobs behind where we need to be. Business feels it. They have to raise wages to attract workers, but that continues to drive inflation, making it harder for the Federal Reserve to raise rates even more. This is where the risk of recession comes into play. We are on the verge of a deeper recession because of this issue.
