The European Commission (EC) approved this Thursday the reinforcement of aid for gas-intensive industries, up to 40% of the eligible cost, allowing the limit of aid to be increased from 400,000 euros to 500,000 and extend them to the agri-food processing industry.
In a statement, the Ministry of Economy and the Sea reported that “the European Commission approved today, October 6, the first modification of the ‘Support for Gas-Intensive Industries’ measure, which It will allow to increase the support rate on the eligible cost to 40%, raise the maximum limit of attributable support to 500,000 eurosper company, and extend the system of incentives to companies in the agri-food processing industry”.
In this way, the total amount of aid increases, from 160 million euros to 190 million, retroactively to applications already submitted and resolved, the Government has pointed out.
However, according to António Costa Silva’s ministry, the EC is still analyzing the “creation of new forms of support, where the maximum support limit could reach two million eurosper company, or five million euros in the event of operating losses”.
This is one of the measures included in the support package for companies, announced by the Government in September, with more than 1,400 million euros to support companies in the face of rising energy costs, including a line of credit.
