Union says that TAP owes the crew more than 12 million euros in defaults

The National Union of Civil Aviation Flight Personnel (SNPVAC), which has scheduled a strike for December 8 and 9, said Thursday that TAP owes its crew more than 12 million euros in default.

“The administration alleges that the profits that the crew would have with this proposal would be around eight million euros This is where the big misunderstanding arises. We are not talking about concessions. It is something that belongs to the crew and that the company withdrew unilaterally”, he begins by referring to the SNPVAC, in a statement sent to the affiliates, to which Lusa had access.

At stake are the statements by the airline’s CEO, Christine Ourmières-Widener, on Wednesday, about the decision to cancel 360 flights on the days when a cabin crew strike is expected, which will mean a loss of income. eight million euros. , an amount that would be equivalent to what the crew would earn with the company agreement proposal that TAP put on the negotiation table.

Albuquerque says cancellation of 360 TAP flights is a “disaster” for the company

“Actually they are not eight million euros, but constant non-payments that amount to more than 12 million euros and that the company owes the crew,” says the union.

The SNPVAC considers that the declarations of the person in charge constitute “one of the biggest attacks on the class”, “an unprecedented and unreserved exposure” and an “attempt to pressure and point the finger” that the company makes “in a shameful way, with the other workers of the group and public opinion”.

“The SNPVAC board is not indifferent to this victimization campaign and reminds the administration that it was the company that assumed the end of the negotiations and with the ultimatums on the table,” he stresses.

The union met with TAP on November 15 and 16, in the framework of the negotiations of the new company agreement, where it says it defined “14 key points” so that a possible cancellation of the strike can be considered by the associates.

Among them is the negotiation of a new agreement based on the current one, “substantially improved”, with which, according to the union, TAP does not agree.

Also part of the union demands are the adjustment of diets, the salary update, or the hiring of 11 crew members who are out of seniority, and “the company agreed to hire these crew members due to the obligation of the SNPVAC to present the proposal to the affiliates until November 22”, something the union says is “impossible to execute by statute”.

“Who decides the times [prazos] future are the crew. we demand respect???????? 6th [de dezembro] we will know how to live up to another general assembly and we hope to transmit an unequivocal union among all”, concluded the SNPVAC.
