Public function. STE says that the Government has not closed the door to an additional increase being retroactive to January

(Under update)

The State Technical Personnel Union (STE), the first union structure that met this Wednesday with the Government, says that the Executive did not reject one of the demands of the unions in recent days: that the complementary salary increase of 1% in the public political function it is retroactive to January and does not apply only from April. The issue will be discussed again at the April 5 meeting.

“We asked ourselves this question [dos retroativos a janeiro]. We are convinced that it will happen, but we have not yet had a positive response. But that was a question we asked, yes. (…) In fact, they have already provided us with the remuneration table. I think it will be retroactive to January,” Maria Helena Rodrigues, leader of STE, told reporters. Didn’t the Secretary of State for Public Administration close the door on retroactive January? “No”, replied the trade unionist, referring to the fact that the issue will be dealt with during the negotiation process.

This was one of the measures announced by the Government in the new support package for families: a transversal increase of 1% in the civil service with effect from April and the food subsidy from the current 5.2 euros to 6 daily euros.

María Helena Rodrigues also indicated that the Executive left the commitment to review the IRS tables so that the increases are neutral at the tax level and that workers do not lose money in case of going up a step.
