A contract worth 625,000 euros, valid for two years, for the purchase of paper cups was approved by the TAP executive committee in August 2021. The issue was brought to the executive committee, the PSD deputy revealed Thursday Hugo Carneiro, who faced the financial manager at the time, João Weber Gameiro, with the acquisition and the need for this degree of approval. “I don’t remember,” replied the former financial administrator, who was in charge for three months, about why the administrators had to give the ‘ok’ to this purchase.
“These 625,000 euros of glasses are sui generis because then there was a payment of 500 thousand euros [a Alexandra Reis], which has some materiality, but many administrators did not know about it. We came to the conclusion that the treatment given to the different situations is different over time”, concluded Hugo Carneiro.

The minutes of that meeting are signed by Weber Gameiro, but the former administrator says he does not remember the details. “These purchases were a process led by the TAP purchasing department, the analysis was made with other options. I think it came because it was the best option at the time, ”he explained. “I don’t know if it’s a lot or a little, it seems, but I imagine there’s work behind it,” he added, about the value of the contract.
Regarding the fact that the paper cups were brought to the executive committee meeting, Weber Gameiro said that the “decisions were very concentrated in the board of directors and the executive committee”, and that the directors “did not sign anything”, everything was brought to the administrators. Even if powers were delegated to one or two directors, “it was still brought to the executive committee,” he recalls.
