BE/Açores wants to hear in parliament from the Regional Labor Inspection and the National Union of Telecommunications and Audiovisual Workers (Sinttav) about the process regarding precarious jobs in RTP/Azores, the political party announced this Thursday.
According to deputy António Lima, the party wants clarifications on the “Possible irregularities” related to RTP/Azores workers. Last week, the union stated that the labor inspection detected serious irregularities in more than 60% of the service contracts analyzed at the RTP regional center in the Azores.
The Regional Labor Inspection denied the situations mentioned by Sinttav regarding alleged irregularities in the provision of services in RTP/Azores, repudiating acts that call into question the “secret of justice.”
The leader of BE/Açores spoke this Thursday about the issue at the Urgent debate on the “Failure to fulfill the responsibilities of the Government of the Republic towards the Autonomous Region of the Azores”presented by the PPM parliamentary group, on the second day of the plenary session of the September legislature, the first after the summer holidays, of the Legislative Assembly of the Autonomous Region of the Azores, in Horta.
The strange thing about this process is that, after the union’s complaint, the Regional Labor Inspection arrives, supervised by this Government. [Regional, PSD/CDS-PP/PPM]to say that nothing should have been said about the matter and that, ‘oh Jesus’, we have to protect the employer, we have to protect RTP and the Ministry of Finance.”
“But why? What strange coalition of interests exists between the Regional Labor Inspection, the RTP administration and the Ministry of Finance? What coalition of interests is this?”, stated António Lima.
As BE intends to “know what this coalition of interests is”, António Lima announced that the party “will call the Regional Labor Inspection to parliament to explain how unusual this statement is”. “AND Let’s call the union that made this complaint [Sinttav] to explain how many precarious housing there is in RTP/Azores and what the Regional Labor Inspection is doing,” he added.
To conclude, he stated that “these issues are specific aspects of people’s lives and concern the Government of the Republic” and “also the relations between the Regional Government and the Government of the Republic.”
