Endesa decides not to charge the cost of the social rate to residential customers

Endesa announced this Tuesday that will not pass on the cost of the social electricity rate to residential customerswithin the framework of the new cost sharing model that allows suppliers to charge that amount to the final consumer.

In a statement sent to the media, Endesa reported that “This cost will not be passed on to all your customers, as long as they are residential customers”highlighting that “this decision will have a significant impact on the results of Endesa Portugal.”

Lusa had questioned the main electricity suppliers (Endesa, EDP, Galp and Iberdrola) about whether they would reflect the costs of the social electricity tariff in customers’ bills, but had not received any further responses so far.

In mid-April, the Energy Services Regulatory Authority (ERSE) published the guidelines for the new distribution model for the financing of this support, estimating that it will cost 44.4 million euros to producers and 92.1 million to suppliers. in 2024.
