As in the first round, in the meeting between the Government and Chega, André Ventura also will not be present. At the time, Luís Montenegro was absent for health reasons, but it is now known that the Prime Minister will not be present in the second round either, so Pedro Nuno Santos chose not to be present. As for Chega, the party delegation will be composed of deputies Rui Afonso, Filipe Melo and Pedro Pinto, also parliamentary leader of the party.
A source from Chega’s leadership revealed to the Observer that the party maintains the same position: “zero negotiations”with the Government on the State Budget – and that he will only be present out of “respect” and to receive the information that the Executive has to give, specifically on the macroeconomic scenario.
It is recalled that André Ventura accused the Government of “democratic aggression” and “provocation” when the Minister of the Presidency, António Leitão Amaro, announced that he had called the parties to meetings on the State Budget on the day of Chega’s parliamentary session. Hours later, the Executive proposed a new date and postponed the conversation with Ventura’s party until Wednesday, when Chega is already back in the Assembly of the Republic.
