Treasury alerts about the sending of fraudulent emails and SMS to taxpayers

The Tax and Customs Authority (AT) warned this Thursday of the sending of a new fraudulent email to some taxpayers and also of another ‘phishing’ campaign through text messages (SMS).

In a message published this Thursday on the Finance Portal, AT states that, in the case of emails, recipients are invited to follow a link provided to themwhich they should not do because it is a fraudulent scheme.

In fraudulent text messages, recipients are induced to make a payment to supposedly regularize their tax situation.

“These messages are fake and should be ignored,” as their only objective “is to convince the recipient to access malicious pages by clicking on the suggested links or to make improper payments.”“, warns AT, highlighting that under no circumstances should taxpayers carry out the indicated operations.
