Watch: Depp’s Lawyer Grills Amber For Not Donating $7M As Divorce To Charity

Johnny Depp’s lawyer, Camilla Vasquez, asked Amber Heard not to give $7 million to charity for a divorce in his witness statement. In response, the actress said that while she doesn’t donate all the money to charities, she donates everything because she uses the words “deposit” and “donation” interchangeably.

On Monday, Vasquez said Heard said he had “given” the entire $7 million divorce case to charity, splitting the donations between the left-wing American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and the Los Angeles Children’s Hospital, which each sent $3.5 million. .

“Now you sit down, ma’am. Hurd, you didn’t donate $7 million of the divorce to charity, did you?” Asked by Vasquez, Heard replied, “Wrong. I gave the entire $7 million to charity. ”

“RS. I heard it’s not my question,” Vasquez said.

“I use the words pledge and donation interchangeably,” Hurd replied.

Elsewhere, during cross-examination, Heard insisted that he failed to secure the full divorce settlement because “Johnny sued me,” despite admitting that he had received the full $7 million from Depp over 13 months before filing for defamation.

“Unfortunately, I was unable to meet these obligations,” Hurd said of his donation to the charity. “I made a promise, I want to be very clear. I swear with all my heart. Since I was sued, I could not keep these promises,” he said.

However, Vasquez said, “Hurd had all of $7 million 13 months before Mr. You and Depp chose not to pay the charities you promised.”

“I disagree with your characterization of him,” Hurd replied.

Vasquez also noted that Hurd said he gave the entirety of the divorce to charity because he didn’t need Depp’s money and “wanted nothing” from the actor.

But last month, ACLU COO and General Counsel Terence Dougherty revealed that most of Hurd’s $1.3 million donation to the ACLU was made by Tesla CEO Elon Musk and another unnamed person.
