Convicted scammer Jussie Smollett says she’s still the victim of a hate crime: I’m not a ‘piece of shit’ exploiting LGBT pain

Shy actor Jussie Smollett claims she was beaten in 2019 for being black and gay and denies carrying out the attack, although a jury convicted her for her role in a hate crime prank.

In a recent interview with SiriusXM’s Sway Calloway, Jussie Smollett spoke to ABC News’ Robin Roberts about her infamous sit-down where on a cold night in Chicago, two Donald supporters were attacked by Trump, saying, “This is MAGA country.”

The first said, “Every word I said in that interview was true.” empire said the star.

“I was angry and hurt, so I had to go on national television and explain to me what had happened,” he continued, adding that he was trying to “represent that we are being attacked for who we are.”

Later, in an interview with Sway Calloway, Smollett flatly refused to serve up a hate crime.

“If I had done anything, I wouldn’t have looked like a victim. Regardless, he looks like a strong man,” he said, adding that he doesn’t need “any lift” in his career.

“There’s no reason for me to do vulgar stupid things, but people believe what they believe,” he said. “If I do this, I will be a jerk, punching the horrors of the LGBT community around the world. I’m not that stupid.”
In December, a Chicago jury found Jussie Smollett guilty in five of six hate crime fraud cases, including lying to police. The actor was sentenced to 150 days in prison, but was released on bail until he appealed a few days later.
