The 72-year-old actor and ensemble director promised to bring “inspiring leadership to a collaborative team” to the job.
Williams will face incumbent mayor Betsy Sticks in this year’s election.
He’s already earned the endorsement of one of his former co-stars. Henry Winkler, the actor who plays Fonz on the hit sitcom, said he supports Williams’ presidential candidacy.
“You have my voice,” Winkler wrote on Tuesday about his friend and colleague’s fledgling campaign.

Those who want to run for mayor must officially declare their candidacy on 18 July and submit their documents to the municipality before 12 August.
Like many Hollywood figures, Williams is a leftist who spends his time attacking people from the center on social media.
He has inatake Georgia Representative Marjorie Taylor Green, moan about capitalism destroying the environment and crow About how good Joe Biden is for America.
He also proposed an end to free speech and demanded that Tucker Carlson be punished for daring to hold his own political views.
The President of the United States should sanction Tucker Carlson.
