Disgraced former Senator Al Franken (D-MN) is nothing short of inconsistent. Exactly five years after she resigned over sexual harassment allegations, she made a guest ad. Jimmy Kimmel Live! Target an old foe on Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX).
His own presentation began Tuesday night with Franken telling his audience that he considers himself “the only former U.S. senator to be recognized as an invited guest.” Jimmy Kimmel Live!before insisting, “Today is not about politics, it’s about comedy and entertainment.”
He immediately contradicted himself and went into politics.
Franken ignored the fact that President Joe Biden had enacted the Inflation Reduction Act. He also chose not to mention Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) for reelection, whom she personally supported and openly lost the Wyoming primary to Trump-backed candidate Harriet Hageman.
Instead, he turned his gentle gaze to Cruz and said:
I really think one of the biggest problems facing our country right now is how big Ted Cruz is.
The liberal assessment of Cruz’s character didn’t stop there, either, nor did the graphic allusion to the amount of his genitals stop there.
Franken went on and inflamed his theme:
I’ve said this before, but I probably love Ted Cruz like most of my peers and hate Ted Cruz. […] Ted Cruz is probably one of the most popular senators because, like I said, he’s a big jerk.
Franken mirrored Donald Trump’s fate, pointing out that the FBI is “under investigation for possible violations of the Espionage and Interception Act” after the Mar-a-Lago raid.
“It doesn’t look good,” he said. “Trump has done such a bad job that he will have to write himself a check for $130,000.”
“Now some people say that Trump can run, and it’s crazy that a former US President can run,” Franken said. “But the good news is that at least the official presidential portrait of Donald Trump hangs at every airport in the United States,” he said as the portrait of Trump appeared on the screen with the words “No Flight List” above his head.
Al Franken served in the US Senate from 2009 to 2018, when he resigned after several women accused him of inappropriate behavior.
Franken said in his resignation speech that some women who accused him of sexual assault were lying. Franken said the allegations gave people the “false impression of admitting that I was doing something I didn’t actually do.”
Prior to his Senate career, Franken was a best-selling author and occasional comedian.
