It has been 21 years since the death of international pop star Freddie Mercury after contracting AIDS.
Mercury made tens of millions during his short career. The star’s fortune at his departure in 1991, according to Celebrity Net Worth, was around $50 million, between his real estate holdings, which totaled $40 million, and the money he owned was close to $10 million.
We wonder, after the star’s death, where did the money go and who has been paid for his music royalties over the years? The estate was divided among those nearest and dearest to Freddie Mercury. Lifelong friend and confidant, Mary Austin, receives the majority of her inheritance, as well as her house. But Mercury allocated a decent amount of money to his parents, Bumi and Jer Bulsara, and to his only sister, Kashmira. And Mercury did not forget his partner Jim Hutton, his personal assistant, driver and cook who kept part of the money.
Mary Austin also received 50% of Mercury’s record earnings, while the remaining 50% was shared by her parents and her only sister.
