Study: Coffee Affects Cholesterol Levels Based on Gender!

Scientists have recently discovered how a single nutrient affects cholesterol levels in both men and women.

Maintaining healthy cholesterol levels is an act of balancing, because the human body requires high levels of one type of cholesterol and low levels of another: two types of cholesterol are HDL and LDL, and high-density lipoprotein and low-density lipoprotein, too. known as “good” and “bad” cholesterol.

Scientists have discovered that coffee can have a big impact on cholesterol levels, especially if the drinker is male, according to a new study published in the journal Open Heart.

It turns out that coffee consumption has a greater impact on cholesterol levels in men than in women.

However, it is not just about the gender of the person drinking, but how the coffee is prepared.

Drinking coffee in the form of an espresso was found to have the greatest difference between the sexes, while coffee prepared in a cafe had the smallest.

Drinking three to five cups of coffee a day is associated with a higher level of total cholesterol in men compared to women.

“Coffee is the most widely accepted central stimulant in the world,” wrote the study researchers from the Arctic University of Norway. Due to high coffee consumption, even small health effects can have major health consequences.

The reason why the study in question was unusual, unlike other studies, was the indirect association of coffee with an increased risk of heart disease rather than a reduced risk.

High cholesterol levels are a major risk factor for heart disease.

However, coffee drinkers should not be prevented from continuing, as previous studies have shown that only two to three cups of coffee per day leads to many cardiovascular and neurological benefits for the consumer.

One of the reasons for the health benefits of coffee is because of the compounds that are naturally present in it.

However, it can be difficult to determine the potential benefits of these compounds because they depend on: “different types of coffee, types, degree of roasting, type of brewing method, and size. of delivery. It shows how coffee contains compounds that can lead to many mechanisms working simultaneously ”.

In addition, there are other factors that must be considered in relation to cholesterol, such as the influence of other lifestyle factors.
As for ways to lower cholesterol, the NHS recommends increasing the amount of exercise, quitting smoking and reducing alcohol consumption.
