US President Joe Biden requested almost $100 billion (€94.38 billion) in emergency aid to support populations after hurricanes Helene and Milton and other natural disasters.
In a letter sent Monday to House Speaker Mike Johnson, Biden said he has met personally with those affected by the storms and heard what they need from the federal government.
“Additional resources are needed to continue supporting these communities”Biden said.
Most of the money, around $40 billion (€37.75 billion), will go to the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s main disaster relief fund.
Added to this is an additional $24 billion (€22.65 billion) to help farmers and $12 billion (€11.33 million) for community development block grants administered by the Department of Housing and Urban Development. .
