Minister of Culture says that there is no urgency in appointing executive positions of DGPC

The Minister of Culture, Pedro Adão e Silva, said on Wednesday that he does not see the conclusion of public competitions for executive positions in the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage (DGPC) as an urgent matter.

“There is no urgency to solve this problem”declared Pedro Adão e Silva, in Condeixa-a-Nova, when asked by the Portuguese agency about the appointment of the director general and other directors of the DGPC.

The Minister of Culture affirmed that the position of general director of the DGPC has been carried out smoothly by the architect João Carlos Santos, who assumed his duties on an interim basis almost a year ago, in June 2021.

Pedro Adão e Silva was speaking to journalists as part of a visit to the Monographic Museum of Conimbrigain Condeixa-a-Nova, district of Coimbra, within the framework of the International Museum Day celebrations.

The public competition for the position of general manager ended on June 17, 2021, as well as that of one of the positions of deputy general manager.

The competition for the other position of deputy general director of the DGPC ended this year, on April 14.

There are no announced decisions on these tenders yet.

The Minister of Culture reiterated this Wednesday that the DGPC contests are part of an ongoing process, in which the Ministry of Culture and the Public Administration Recruitment and Selection Commission (CReSAP) participate.
