During the weekend, the Teatrão will premiere the second creation of the “Open Doors” artistic and community intervention project, developed since 2019, in the area of the city of Coimbra known as Vale da Arregaça.
“We will have what we did not have in the first show, which is that the spectators can walk through Arregaça, get to know different spaces and see scenes that were made, built, from what were the street assemblies, the testimonies of the inhabitants and their relationships with work”, reveals the director of ‘O Teatrão’, Isabel Craveiro.
The premiere of the show “De Portas Abertas II — Os Caminhos do Trabalho”, which will take place on the route through Arregaça, takes place on Saturday at 7:00 p.m., with repetitions on Sunday and Monday.
Speaking to the Lusa agency, Isabel Craveiro explained that it is a touring show, lasting about two hours, which will begin at Rua Verde Pinho, next to the entrance of Externato João XXIII.
“This show is very different from the first, giving centrality to the inhabitants, to the people of the community. The actors of the Theater have very specific participations in the show”, he reported.
The first show “De Portas Abertas” was presented in September 2020, at the Campo Municipal da Arregaça, “adapted to the circumstances of the pandemic that existed at that time”.
The creation of the second show of this project counts, this time, with the participation of people from the community, in a total close to six dozen.
“His original dramaturgy resulted from the process of cultural mapping and documentary research around the issues of the world of work, seeking to relate the ways of life of the inhabitants of Arregaça with their work, and establishing the existing relationships between work, identity, social relations and sustenance,” he said.
According to the director of ‘O Teatrão’, the project ends up bringing together residents from areas very different from Arregaça.
“People who did not know each other and met thanks to this project, neighbors who already knew each other and who now have a different experience to keep in memory,” he added.
The show will feature live music, with the musical direction of Rui Lúcio.
“We advise people to bring comfortable shoes. The route starts at Verde Pinho and goes to the Factory. We came back and ended up right in the middle of Arregaça, at Praça do Mondego”, she concluded.
Admission to the show is free, but is subject to reservation.
