New LU.CA theater season makes young people think about value for money

LU.CA — The Luís de Camões Theater in Lisbon will dedicate part of the new season to money, with the premiere of two theatrical shows, an exhibition and financial education workshops for the youngest, it was announced this Friday.

“The world we knew is changing and also the perception we have about money or its representation. Never before have we seen such a rapid change in the price and value of things, and as a result of what can and cannot be bought or sold”, says the artistic director of LU.CA, Susana Menezes, in the program Revealed. The new season of LU.CA — a municipal theater that programs mainly for children and young people — runs from September to December and the cycle dedicated to money is scheduled for the month of November.

“With the ‘Ciclo Dinheiro’ we will learn about the stories that are inside the coins and bills that are in our pockets, we will understand how money is made, what cryptocurrency is, or that, after all, the things that most apparently they have very different sizes, small”, explained Susana Menezes.

As part of this cycle, the mala voadora company will premiere the show “O papel do Dinheiro”, directed by Jorge Andrade, and João de Brito will stage “The value of small things”, based on a text by David Machado.

Margarida Madeira and Sónia Morgado will carry out financial education workshops, there will be mini-conferences in coordination with the Educational Service of the Money Museum, a recreational mini-market from the Fritta Office is also planned, and an exhibition by the ‘designer’ João Sobral, who asks “What could it be the money?

The new season of LU.CA will open in September with cinema, with options for the Play Festival –which will run regularly until December-, and will host the revival of the show, exhibition and workshop “Que grande eestrondo”, by the illustrator João Fazenda.

In LU.CA, for example, in October the dance show “An attack of sloth?”, by Aldara Bizarro, and in December the show “The state of the world (when you wake up)”, put on by Miguel Fragata, on sustainability . and climate emergency.
