The Brazilian musician and composer Gilberto Gil will receive the title of honorary doctor from the Universidade Nova de Lisboa in October, as revealed this Tuesday by the institution.

Gilberto Gil, 81 years old, multi-award-winning Brazilian artist, will receive the title On October 31, when he will be in Portugal for three concerts, in the coliseums of Lisbon and Porto.
About the granting of this doctorate honoris causaThe Universidade Nova de Lisboa will carry out a cycle of initiatives in October “designed to echo Gil’s work and reflect on it from the University as a space for questioning.”
This cycle begins on October 22. and will feature several concerts, in particular by the Portuguese musicians Júlio Resende and António Zambujo and the Brazilian José Miguel Wisnik.
Gilberto Gil’s three concerts in Portugal—on October 30 and 31 at the Coliseu de Lisbon, and on November 2 at the Coliseu do Porto— They are part of the European tour “Aquele Abraço”.
This tour celebrates the musician’s 60-year career and 50 years of international touring.
