The poster reflects “a long-standing concern: to show our audience artists who, most likely, if they did not perform at A Porta, would hardly go to Leiria,” said the festival’s programming director, Mariana Lois.
In a statement, the organization highlighted its concern for “programming emerging artists”, such as Hause Plants, Malva or Meia/Fé, but also for giving “special attention to the programming of bands and artists from the region”, such as the winner of the Festival da Song, iolanda, of Pombal, King Kami, of Fátima, or Margô, Diadorim, Wheels or Dispirited Spirits, residents or natives of Leiria.
In a program with 18 options that “range from pop to ‘spoken word’, from indie to rap, passing through sounds inspired by fado and traditional Portuguese music”, the names of multi-instrumentalist B Fachada or La Furia, a project by the ‘rapper’, highlights the Spanish Nerea Lorón Díaz.
In this edition, the A Porta festival moves to the old Convent of Santo António dos Capuchos, in Leiria, where most of the activities will take place. Some concerts and DJ sets are also held at the Stereogun nightclub.
The musical program begins on June 9 with performances by 800 Gondomar and Margô.
Until June 16, the rest of the festival’s proposals include shows, workshops and other activities for babies, children and families, Feira Bandida, themed dinners, educational experiences for schools and social solidarity institutions, surprise proposals TransPORTA-te and 1001 Portas , with suggestions for an adult audience, such as cocktail workshops, wine tastings, music writing workshops or debates on sexuality.
