Between the last debate on general policy with the President of the Government in Parliament and this Wednesday, eight months have passed and also an absolute majority of the PS. Did António Costa come back reinforced? Not really. More tense than usual, the President of the Government had tensions with various seats (from Chega to Bloco de Esquerda), became impatient, questioned the rules, became exasperated with the model of the debate (which came from the extinction of the biweekly that he himself designed with Rui Rio), attacked opponents and former partners. And it was in response to three months of government —which, in reality, are already two legislatures and a few more dust storms— full of controversies and crises that the opposition recovered, one by one.
The crisis of medical personnel in the SNS emergency room, the Ukrainian refugees in Setúbal, the new airport, the economic pressure of the country with the war in Ukraine and also the accession of the country to the European Union, in preparation for the European Council at the end of this week, everything provoked criticism from the right to the left of the plenary, leaving the socialists invariably alone in defending their honor.
