On ABC’s Sunday episode of “This Week”, House Election Committee member Rep. Jamie Ruskin (D-Md.) spoke about the hearings regarding the January 6, 2021 US Capitol riots.
Raskin argued that the hearings brought “Republicans, Democrats, independents, libertarians” and “people from different spectrums together in deciding that American constitutional democracy should work as we know it.”
“People are busy and so we know that many people, especially young people, learn about hearings from trailers broadcast on television or the internet, and we now know that people can process information in a variety of ways,” Raskin emphasizes. “This is unlike the hearings at Watergate, where everyone has to watch at the same time because of the relatively primitive level of technology. Over time, people will absorb this and of course, I’ve met a lot of people who say, “I missed one of the hearings, but I’m going to watch it this weekend.”
“[T]The truth is, I think these hearings bring Republicans, Democrats, Independents, Libertarians… people from all over the spectrum together in the decision that America’s constitutional democracy must work as we know it, that we can’t have an election. . The authorities were corrupt over electoral fraud. “We cannot mobilize the politicians in the majority to cancel our cases,” he said.
