Poll: Kari Lake maintains lead in Arizona’s Republican gubernatorial primaries

Cary Lake, a former Phoenix Fox 10 news anchor, is still the Republican prefectural primary president in Arizona, according to a recent poll.

Predictive Analytics OH interview He found that Lake had the support of 40 percent of prospective Arizona GOP voters in the primary election. Thanks to Lake’s support, he was five points ahead of his second-closest rival, Karrin Taylor Robson, who got 35 percent support.

The poll came after the old Rep. Matt Salmon (R-AZ) withdrew from the race last week, making it the two ladies’ main race between Lake and Robson.

Robson benefited more from Salmon’s departure than Lake, according to survey data announcing Salmon’s departure from the race.

Mike Noble, Head of Research at OH Predictive Insight, said:

The salmon and no salmon comparisons give us a closer look at what will happen in the August polls. While Lake maintains a solid lead, Robson clearly benefits from Salmon’s departure; It may be just what Robson needs, aside from some last support, to stay competitive in this major.

When voters were asked to choose between three candidates, Lake fell slightly below the current figure of 39 percent, while Robson took 31 percent and Salmon was included in the poll.

Robson’s five-point gain when Salmon stopped the race was likely due to the decline of Salmon’s former supporters on Robson’s side. OH Predictive Insights found that 80 percent of Salmon’s former voters flocked to Robson.

After Salmon retired last week, he supported Robson, citing his “behavior and experience”.

Robson has the support of Salmon, while Lake has the support of former President Donald Trump, who has described Lake as a “great guy” that the MAGA movement is “proud of”.

Lake has a unique advantage: voters identify themselves as Trump supporters, not Republicans.

As OH Predictive Insights explains:

Kari Lake has a tight grip on conservative populists led by Trump, while Robson is betting on the traditionalist, party establishment. Poll results showed that GOP voters who supported the Republican Party more than Donald Trump more than twice supported Robson (47%) than Lake (22%) and vice versa: 57% of Trump supporters they support Lake against the party, only 24% support Robson.

Lake and Robson are vying for the support of 21 percent undecided voters ahead of Arizona’s August 2 GOP primaries.

Early voting began Wednesday at Grand Canyon State.

OH Predictive Insights polled 515 potential Arizona GOP voters from June 30 to July 2. Voting error was ±4.3 percent.
