CP — Comboios de Portugal suppressed 703 of the 978 scheduled connections between 00:00 and 18:00 today, due to the strike of Infraestruturas de Portugal (IP) workers, an official company source informed Lusa .
According to the updated balance made by CP to Lusa, between 00:00 and 18:00 hours, 978 trains were scheduled and 275 were madeof which 14 long distance, 63 regional, 138 urban in Lisbon and 60 urban in Porto.
The CP had warned on Monday to “strong disturbances in the circulation of trains in all services” and throughout the country today and Thursday for the strike of IP workers.
Speaking to the Lusa agency this Tuesday morning, the president of Aprofer, Adriano Filipe, said that “the shutdown is proceeding as plannedwith the fulfillment of the minimum services.
The strike involves the nearly 300 workers of IP’s Railway Command and Control, which regulate the punctuality and safety of 100% of railway traffic and are concentrated in the stations of Braço de Prata, Contumil and Setúbal, that is, in the operational command (OCC) of Lisbon, Porto and Setúbal.
As Adriano Filipe previously explained, the supervisors of the railway command and general maintenance of railway infrastructures are on strike.
