“We have to consider a coalition with the PSD in the Azores”

In an interview with Observer on the sidelines of Chega’s first parliamentary days, Bruno Nunes, vice president of the party’s parliamentary caucus, rejects that Chega continues to be a “one-person party”, but speaks of a “one-person party”. Regarding Luís Montenegro’s PSD, he appeals for “clarification” and puts the Social Democrats against the wall. If the accusations of fascism continue, the Azores agreement could fall. With the legislative in Madeira already on the horizon, Chega advances with a revision of the Constitution to clarify the positions of the right. Right-wing government without Enough? Without ministries and secretaries of state it will be impossible.

On Monday, André Ventura announced that Chega will file the constitutional review project in September. Knowing that he is suspended from the beginning, with the absolute majority of PS. Is this one more step for Chega to try to distance or unite the right-wing parties?
I do not know if it is suspended from the beginning. We cannot forget that when we had the problem of the transposition of the European directive by the Government and the shame that it was, the President of the Government António Costa himself said that it was time to think, due to the metadata, of a constitutional revision. We will see if, after all, the constitutional review served solely and exclusively to satisfy a need to correct an error by the PS or if the fact that this review was requested by Chega is the reason why they veto -and we believe that they do – for the principle of trying to veto only because it is Chega who, once again, will delay the country. We know that constitutionalists always think that the Constitution is very good. This has been so since [Assembleia] Constituent Assembly, there is a great aversion to the manipulation of the Constitution. We believe that the time has come, we want to understand the position of the PSD and Luís Montenegro at this stage in relation to this matter. It is not about distancing ourselves from them, it is about realizing whether or not they are with our position. We don’t walk away, we just want to understand if they leave and don’t come closer.
