Former President Donald Trump urged drug dealers, human traffickers and police killers to accept the death penalty at a Save America rally in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Friday night.
Trump said:
So it’s pretty controversial. Either they’re going to give me a standing ovation – and I don’t care about the applause, the country is important to me – or people will walk out for what I have to say. But it’s finally time to say it. If you look at the countries of the world… Those who do not contain drugs are those who impose the death penalty on drug dealers. They just have no issues.

Trump added that traffickers and those who kill police officers should be sentenced to death.
“In addition to those who kill the police, there are also those who kill through human trafficking,” he said.
“So we can be tough and smart and solve our problem, or we can be politically correct and weak and frankly super stupid,” Trump said. “We will probably continue like this and lose millions of people in a disaster that our country and many other countries have not seen.”
“So do something about it. That’s the only way to win, that’s the only way to win, and everything will be fine,” added the former president.

Trump’s comments on the death penalty for drug traffickers are consistent with reports that he supported the policy during his 2018 presidency.
Jonathan Swan of Axios reported that Trump secretly supported the policy in February 2018. However, just a month later, Trump publicly endorsed the policy.
“If we’re not tough on drug dealers, we’re wasting time,” he said. “This strictness includes the death penalty.”
Trump campaigned in Las Vegas on Friday night on behalf of US Senate candidate Adam Laxalt and gubernatorial candidate Sheriff Joe Lombardo. Trump is scheduled to speak in Alaska on Saturday in support of US House of Representatives candidate Sarah Palin and US Senate candidate Kelly Chibak.
