An illegal alien has been sentenced to less than 20 years in federal prison for killing a man off the coast of Massachusetts.
31-year-old Mexican illegal immigrant Franklin Freddie Meave Vasquez was sentenced this week to 19 and a half years in prison for killing a man on a commercial boat off Nantucket, Massachusetts, on September 23, 2018. .
The prison sentence came after Vazquez pleaded guilty in March to one count of second-degree murder, one attempted murder, and one assault with a dangerous weapon. Federal officials said Vazquez would be deported after his sentence.
In the fall of 2018, Vasquez was on the Captain’s boat. Billy Haver – about 50 miles off the coast of Nantucket – knocked the man unconscious when he hit one of the six other crew members with a hammer.
Vasquez then attacked the second crew member and stabbed him several times with a fishing knife. When a third crew member tried to intervene, Vasquez struck him in the head with a hammer. When the boat captain tried to intervene, Vasquez tried to stab him.
While both men were taken to a nearby hospital, the man who stabbed Vasquez was pronounced dead. Vasquez was detained by the US Coast Guard.
