This week, Bowser again asked the Department of Defense to deploy the National Guard after the administration rejected his latest request. Bowser shared the letter he sent to the Pentagon on his Twitter account:
We need the help of our federal partners as we work to stabilize and manage our work environment at this critical time.

Biden officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the president was concerned about the “optics” of the Democratic mayor, who, like Bowser, described the record level of illegal immigration as a “humanitarian crisis”.
For months, Abbott sent thousands of cross-border and illegal immigrants to Washington DC and New York.
Late last month, Bowser described the DC busloads of immigrants as a “tipping point” for the city. In his latest request to the National Guard, Bowser described the buses as a “crisis”.

The few thousand cross-border and illegal aliens brought to Washington DC still pale in comparison to the levels of illegal immigration that America’s border communities have seen under the Biden administration.
In Texas border towns alone, nearly 130,000 illegal border violators were arrested in June. Last month, in a small town of just 29 people in Normandy, Texas, a group of about 400 border crossers and fugitives in one day entered the area.
Abbott’s migrant bus policy comes as the Biden administration greatly expands Operation Catch and Release, releasing thousands of cross-border and illegal aliens into the interior of the United States every day.
From February 2021 to May 2022, the Biden administration released more than a million border violators and illegal immigrants into American communities.
