fires No more proposals to end the sale of burned wood

Chega proposes the cessation of the commercialization of the wood burned by the fires and the compensation, by the State, of the damaged owners, arguing that this measure would discourage the “criminal practice for the purpose of obtaining an economic advantage“.

In a bill that claims to have entered the Assembly of the Republic this Thursday, the far-right party argues that the initiative aims to “respond to and prevent fires that are economically motivated“.

In the diploma, the Basta Parliamentary Group alleges that, after the fires, “loggers pay a third of the value to forestry producers for the wood burned, although it is still useful for various purposes.”

“These situations result in huge losses for forest owners and producers. These end up having to sell wood at a much lower price than they would normally sell“, reads the document.

Affirming that “the fires that have occurred, above all, we will not see many words circulate to account for the destruction of the burned land”, or Chega defends that “concrete measures must be taken, not respecting the industry created by the fires and the economic motivations that circulate around Of the same”.

“Enough proposes to ban the sale of burned woodwith the purpose of discouraging criminal practice with the aim of obtaining an economic advantage in the purchase of burned firewood”, reads the bill.

To do this, the party establishes in the diploma that it is “prohibited to market, by any means, burned wood resulting from forest fires”, applying this prohibition “to the private, public and cooperative sectors“.

Chega also proposes that “the owners of the burnt matter must be compensated by the State, in order to have the economic capacity to conduct post-fire cleanup operations and take the necessary environmental measures.” According to the party, the terms of this compensation “are approved by ordinance” of the minister responsible for the Environment portfolio.

Regarding the purposes of the burned wood, the far-rightist suggests that “it is given up for lost in favor of the State, which must proceed with its removal and promote its use in order to produce energy, through biomass.”
