PSD requests parliamentary assessment of the new statute of the SNS and leaves recourse to Pizarro

The PSD will request parliamentary appreciation of the decree on the new statute of the National Health Service, in an attempt to stop the diploma course. The vice president of the PSD parliamentary caucus, Ricardo Batista Leite, tells the Observer that the government approved the decree in August because it is a “holiday month” and leaves the entire discussion in “closed circuit.” The PSD deputy even appeals to the new minister, Manuel Pizarro, to raise awareness about António Costa to stop the new statute.

The request for social democratic consideration of the decree comes a day after it became known that the Government chose Fernando Araújo as the new general director of the SNS. If the PSD managed to stop the new statute in AR (an almost impossible thing because the PS has a majority in Parliament), the regulation would also fall and there would be no director general in the SNS. However, the request for recognition, the Observer knows, was already prepared and has nothing to do with the name of Fernando Araújo.

Even without chances of success, the PSD says that the evaluation will at least have the effect of being heard on the issue “civil society, health professionals, patient associations and the main opposition parties.” This is necessary because, he reiterates, “the majority government believes that it can do everything behind the people’s back.”

The vice president of the PSD caucus also says that the new statute goes “in a way that does not solve the structural problems of the public health service” and does not bring any “improvement in the management system, much less in the financing of the SNS.” ”.
