Montenegro, Rangel, Miranda Sarmento and Bolieiro participate in the PSD initiative in the Azores

The president of the PSD, Luís Montenegro, and the leader of the caucus will participate next week in the party’s first inter-parliamentary meeting in the Azores, which will also feature speeches by the president of the Regional Government and MEP Paulo Rangel.

The meeting takes place on September 21 and 22, in Ponta Delgada, and is a joint organization of the PSD in the European Parliament and the PSD/Azores, within the framework of the #MissãoAçores initiative launched in 2020 in Brussels.

It aims to bring together, for debate and exchange of ideas, the PSD MEPs with the PSD members of the Regional Government of the Azores, the Azores deputies to the Assembly of the Republic and the deputies to the Legislative Assembly of the Region Autonomous Region of the Azores”, adds the statement.

Luís Montenegro, leader of the PSD, will attend the closing dinner, on the 22nd, together with the president of the PSD/Azores and the Regional Government, José Manuel Bolieiro, who will also intervene in the inauguration of the works.

Among the main speakers will be the parliamentary leader of the PSD, Joaquim Miranda Sarmento, and the MEP and first vice president of the party, Paulo Rangel, who will speak on “Transatlantic relations: the strategic situation of the Azores in the face of Russia-Ukraine”.

On the panels – with topics such as education, health, mobility, tourism, space and science or outermost regions –, the members of the Regional Government of the Azores Sofia Ribeiro, Pedro Faria e Castro, Berta Cabral, António Ventura and Clélio Meneses will speak.

Members of the European Parliament Lídia Pereira, José Manuel Fernandes, Maria da Graça Carvalho, Álvaro Amaro and Cláudia Monteiro de Aguiar, Members of the Assembly of the Republic Ricardo Baptista Leite and Francisco Pimentel, Members of the Regional Assembly of the Azores Délia Melo, João Bruta da Costa and António Vasco Viveiros, and the deputy of the Regional Assembly of Madeira Jaime Filipe Ramos.

University professors Pedro Freitas and Paulo Madruga, the regional director of Science and Technology, Flávio Tiago, or the member of the Azores Missionary Structure of the Espaço Duarte Cota will be other speakers.
