In the 37th round of the Italian Serie A championship, Inter kept a glimmer of hope of winning Serie A after defeating Cagliari 3-1 in Sunday’s meeting at Cagliari Stadium in Sardinia.
Inter advanced in the first half through Matteo Darmian in the 25th minute, in the second half Lautaro Martínez added a second goal in the 51st minute before Cagliari Likoyannis cut the score with a rocket shot goal in the 54th minute, before Inter settled the case in their own benefit, again scoring the third goal from Lautaro’s route in the 84th minute.
Inter kept their last-round title hopes alive with this win, maintaining a two-point lead with Milan, who beat Atalanta 2-0.
On the last matchday, Inter need to win against Sampdoria in exchange for Milan’s loss to Sassuolo, meaning it’s enough for Milan to tie the title to decide the title is in their favour. As for Cagliari, he needs to win in the last round against Venice, compared to Salernitana’s defeat against Udinese, to stay.
